What IKEA has – and what IKEA US lists today

IKEA's two wall-mounted drop-leaf tables for indoor use are NORBERG and BJURSTA. Both have a fixed strip on the wall and a hinged leaf that folds down; both are listed by IKEA as seating two. On 22 October 2026, a search for either name on IKEA's US site returned no products. A product link for the NORBERG version with storage redirected to IKEA's general product overview. We therefore read the product data on IKEA pages outside the US, in English, and give the sizes in inches.

What IKEA's US site did list in our search for wall and fold-down tables:

None of these is a classic indoor wall table. ASKHOLMEN is made for balconies. BILLY and IVAR are shelving units with a fold-out top; the BILLY load figure of 55 lb is for the table top of a bookcase that is anchored to the wall as IKEA requires.

NORBERG: the reference size for two

IKEA lists NORBERG at 74 x 60 cm, about 29⅛ inches wide and 23⅝ inches deep. Top and rail are particleboard with melamine, the underframe is powder-coated steel, and IKEA recommends it for indoor use only. Two figures make NORBERG a useful yardstick even if you buy elsewhere:

• Depth for two: 23⅝ inches, almost exactly the 23.5 inches of the COSTWAY top. Most other fold-down tops are 15 to 16 inches deep.
• Mounting height: IKEA tells you to fix it so that the top edge reaches about 29⅛ inches for table use, or about 37⅜ or 41¾ inches as a bar table, depending on the seat height of the stool. That fits the 28 to 34 inches the 2010 ADA Standards set for dining surfaces. The guide to mounting height explains how to work back from the top edge to the bracket line.

IKEA gives no load rating for NORBERG. On fixing, the page says that different wall materials require different types of fasteners – so the fasteners are your decision. Its care note: re-tighten the screws when necessary.

BJURSTA: wider, less deep

BJURSTA is listed at 90 x 50 cm, about 35⅜ inches wide and 19¾ inches deep, with a minimum depth of 10 cm (about 4 inches) when folded. It also seats two by IKEA's count. The top is particleboard with ash veneer and clear lacquer, the underframe powder-coated steel, and IKEA recommends it only for indoor use. The mounting heights are the same as for NORBERG: about 74 cm (29⅛ in) for table use, 95 or 106 cm for bar use. No load figure is given.

COSTWAY is the alternative we recommend: two ways to fold (one leaf or both) and the deepest top in our data for two people. Costway's instructions use six anchors and only warn that each anchor must fit securely, so on drywall you plan studs or a ledger board yourself.

IKEA searches that point elsewhere

Mounting any of them

NORBERG, BJURSTA and the Amazon alternatives all hang on screws. On drywall, those screws belong in wood studs, which are 16 or 24 inches on center, or in a ledger board screwed across at least two studs.
