Wall-Mounted Laundry Folding Tables: Fold-Down Tops Beside or Above the Washer
A wall-mounted laundry folding table is a long, shallow top that folds down flat beside or above the washer and dryer, so you can fold clothes without a freestanding table in the way. Our pick is the Mount-It! 45 x 15 drop-down table: long, slim when folded, and with clear stud-mounting instructions – but Mount-It! rates it at only 33 lb.

The short version
For folding clothes, length matters more than depth: the Mount-It! MI-7993 gives 45 x 15 inches (or 30 x 15) on steel arms, with a manual that puts three lag screws per arm into studs. Mount-It! states 33 lb, so it is a folding surface, not a shelf for full baskets. Longer 40 to 47 inch laundry tops exist, but only with seller data. There is no standard laundry folding height.

Our pick for the laundry wall
Mount-It! Drop Down 45 x 15
A long, shallow top on steel brackets that can be set up 30 or 45 inches wide.
Why here: A long top with a maker page and a manual that spells out stud mounting – the right shape for folding, as long as you respect the 33 lb rating.
Best for: Long, light-duty surfaces: folding laundry, a bar ledge or a hobby shelf
- 45 x 15 in or 30 x 15 in, by the maker's own description
- Steel brackets, low profile when folded
- Mount-It! advertises a lifetime warranty
- Mount-It!'s own page states only 33 lb – listings elsewhere print higher figures
- 15 in deep: one plate wide, not a dining table for two facing each other
- Particle board top

- Top on folding steel brackets
- Top size
- 45 x 15 in or 30 x 15 in
- Load rating
- 33 lb (Mount-It! page)

- Warranty
- Lifetime (Mount-It!)
Folding a shirt or a towel needs length more than depth. The Mount-It! MI-7993 gives you 45 x 15 inches with all three top segments, or 30 x 15 inches if you leave the middle one out – useful in a narrow gap next to the dryer. The steel arms fold flat, and Mount-It! lists laundry rooms and folding laundry among its uses. Its manual is clear on mounting: on a wood-stud wall, three lag screws per arm go into studs, and you set the arms under the top so their distance matches the distance between two stud centers.
The weak point is the load. Mount-It!'s own page states 33 lb, while some retailers list higher figures. Plan with 33 lb: folded clothes, a stack of towels and a bottle of detergent, not a heavy basket of wet laundry. The top is particle board, so keep it away from dripping clothes. Mount-It! advertises a lifetime warranty. Price class: mid-range.

Only Mount-It! publishes its own data. The other four are marked “Seller data only”: we could read only the Amazon listing, and none of those listings in our data gives a load rating together with a wall type. We compared published data; we did not load-test any table.
The models one by one
Mount-It! 45 x 15 – long, slim, light duty
Our pick for the reasons above: a long top that can shrink to 30 inches, steel arms, a manual with a wood-stud and a concrete option, and a maker page. Mount-It! warns in its manual not to drill concrete anchors into mortar between bricks or stones – relevant in basement laundry rooms with block walls. The 33 lb rating is the honest limit.
Laundry table 40 x 20 – deeper, sold for laundry
An unbranded white top, 40 x 20 inches according to the listing, marketed for folding clothes. The extra depth over the Mount-It! helps with bath towels and sheets. We have no load rating and no maker sheet, so mount it into studs and keep loads light. 40 x 20 laundry table on Amazon*.
GOYLSER 47 x 20.5 – long, rustic brown
A 47 x 20.5 inch top in a rustic brown finish, according to the listing, for laundry rooms with a long free wall. Length and depth suit folding sheets. As with the 40-inch table, the data we have has no load rating.
Need 47 x 20 – long teak-color top
Also 47 x 20 inches (listing), in a teak color. A 47-inch top covers two or three studs at 16 inches on center and one or two at 24 inches, so there is a good chance both brackets reach a stud. The listing gives 100 lb and requires mounting onto wall studs (seller data).
27.5 x 15.7 stainless brackets – for the narrow gap
A short white top on stainless-steel brackets, 27.5 x 15.7 inches (70 x 40 cm, listing). It fits a gap between machine and door. A short top may reach only one stud, so expect to need a ledger board.
What to check before you buy
Length and where it goes. Measure the free wall beside or above the machines. Next to the dryer, check that the open top does not block the dryer door.
Above the machines. A top-loader's lid needs room to open fully under the table; measure it open. Above a front-loader, the top only has to clear the machine and leave space for the stack of clothes.
Studs behind the spot. Wood studs are 16 or 24 inches on center (IRC Table R602.3(5)), so never assume the spacing – measure. If a bracket misses a stud, a ledger board across at least two studs solves it. The guide on how to install a wall-mounted folding table shows the steps.
Drywall anchors are not enough. VIVO's manual for its workbench says not to install into drywall alone. Toggle bolts carry far less than their headline figure: TOGGLER's sheet notes that industry standards recommend one quarter of the ultimate test load as working load.
The load you actually put on it. A rating is the maker's figure for a sound wall with the stated mounting. The further out a basket sits on the top, the harder the top screws are pulled out of the wall. The page on weight capacity explains this in detail.
How high to mount it
There is no standard laundry folding height – we found no code, standard or maker figure, and AI assistants give contradicting ranges. A rule of thumb you can check yourself: a top just below your elbow when you stand with your arms relaxed. Hold a board at that height, fold a few towels, adjust, then drill. The guide to mounting height explains how to work from the top edge to the bracket holes, and why dining tables have a sourced range while laundry tables do not.
Typical mistakes
- Putting full baskets on a light-duty top. The 33 lb on Mount-It!'s page is the limit for the table, not a target.
- Drilling between bricks. Mount-It! says to drill only into solid stone or concrete, not mortar.
- Mounting so low that the washer lid hits the top. Measure the lid open before you mark the height.
- Trusting the supplied anchors on drywall. On drywall, screws go into studs or a ledger.
If you need more depth or a heavier-duty surface than these tables offer, you can build your own top on folding shelf brackets.

Question 1 of 4
Where will the table go?
Conclusion
For a laundry wall, the Mount-It! 45 x 15 drop-down table* is our pick: long, slim when folded and the only laundry-length table here with a maker page and clear stud instructions. Keep within its 33 lb. The longer 40 to 47 inch tops are options if you want more depth, but only with seller data. Questions people ask
What height should a laundry folding table be?
There is no standard height for a laundry folding table. We found no primary source, and AI answers contradict each other (36 to 42 inches in one, 34 to 36 inches in another). As a rule of thumb, try a top just below your elbow while standing with relaxed arms, and test it with a few towels before you drill. Above machines, the washer and its lid set the lower limit.
Can I mount a folding table above the washer and dryer?
Yes, if the studs or a ledger board are behind the spot and the open top clears the machines. A top-loading washer needs room for its lid to open, so measure the open lid before you choose the height. A front-loader only needs the top to clear the machine and leave space for folded clothes.
How much weight can a wall-mounted laundry table hold?
Only what the maker states for its mounting. Mount-It! gives 33 lb on its own page for the MI-7993, although some retailers list it higher. For the unbranded 40 and 47 inch laundry tops, the data we have includes no load rating. A pile of folded towels is light; a full basket of wet laundry belongs on the floor or the dryer, not on the open top.
Is a wall-mounted table better than a freestanding laundry folding table?
In a narrow laundry room, often yes: it folds flat against the wall and leaves the floor free for baskets and the dryer door. A freestanding folding table is the better choice when you rent and may not drill, or when you need to fold on both sides of the table.
